What to include in your request

  • Tagbilaran City is Bohol’s capital and its main sea gateway, and the Chocolate Hills Natural Monument is inland on the same island, with the viewing complex in the municipality of Carmen. The whole run is a road journey — there is no second boat to catch after the ferry.
  • Tell us where you are sleeping that night as well as where you want to go. Going inland straight off the boat means your luggage rides with you all day, so the vehicle has to be sized for the bags as well as the group, and the day finishes at a drop-off rather than back at the pier.
  • The road inland from the pier climbs through Corella and Sikatuna, so the Philippine Tarsier Sanctuary at Corella sits on this route rather than off it — which is the main difference between arriving by ferry and arriving by air. A Loboc river cruise is the detour on this road rather than the natural stop; tell us if you want it and we plan the day with it in.
  • Give the ferry operator, sailing date and arrival time so the pickup is built around the boat you actually land on, and say what time you would like to reach the hills. Ferry arrivals slip, and a late one leaves less of the day for the viewpoint — we would rather say so before you book than on the day.
  • Entrance and viewpoint fees at the stops are collected on site, and so are the tarsier sanctuary and a Loboc river cruise. Those sit outside a transport quote: the fixed price covers the vehicle, the driver and the waiting time at each stop, and we will tell you which of your chosen stops charge one.
  • Prefer to check in on Panglao first and see the hills as a separate day out? Say so in the same enquiry — we quote the pier transfer and the countryside day together instead of leaving you to book them twice.
  • Say whether you mean the viewing deck or the Chocolate Hills Adventure Park (CHAP), the separate private eco-adventure park at Barangay Buenos Aires in Carmen whose own site places it five minutes from the deck. They are different gates with different fees, and the park publishes its hours as daily 8:30am to 5:30pm — so on an arrival day the sailing decides whether the rides are still open when you reach them.

Is there another boat to catch between Tagbilaran port and the Chocolate Hills?

Can we go straight to the hills with our luggage still with us?

Can we see the tarsiers on the way up from the pier?

Yes, and this is the stop the ferry route adds that the airport route does not. The road inland from Tagbilaran port climbs through Corella and Sikatuna, so the Philippine Tarsier Sanctuary at Corella sits on this line rather than off it. Name it in the quote form and we build it into the day; its entrance fee is collected on site, outside the transport quote.

Is the Loboc river cruise on this road too?

It is a detour on this one rather than a stop along it. The road up from Tagbilaran port runs inland through Corella and Sikatuna, while Loboc sits over on the river road that the airport route follows. Plenty of people still want both in one day and it is a normal thing for us to quote — just say so in the enquiry, because it changes the shape and the length of the day rather than being a stop we pass anyway.

Our ferry gets in late — is this still worth doing?

Tell us the sailing and we will be honest about what fits. Ferry arrivals slip, and a late one leaves less of the day for the viewpoint. In that case we would usually suggest the transfer to your accommodation first and the hills as a countryside day after — quoted in the same reply, not as a second booking.
