Bohol to Camiguin by ferry
Camiguin is the onward hop from Bohol that catches planners out, and not because it is hard to reach — the island is visible from Bohol’s south coast. It catches people out because the boat does not leave from the pier they expect. Every other crossing off Bohol sails from Tagbilaran or from Panglao itself; this one goes from Jagna, round on the far side of the island, and it runs on nothing like the Cebu corridor’s timetable. The crossing sails from Jagna, not from Tagbilaran
Jagna is a port town on Bohol’s south coast, and one of the province’s commercial trading centres, with a working port as well as sailings to Mindanao via Cagayan de Oro and Butuan. It is also the Bohol end of the Camiguin link: Super Shuttle Roro connects it with the port of Balbagon on Camiguin. Balbagon is a barangay of Mambajao, which is Camiguin’s capital and its largest municipality, so the boat lands you where most of the island’s accommodation already is.
- Jagna sits on the opposite side of Bohol from Panglao, Alona and the airport, so the pier transfer is a drive across the island rather than a short run into town.
- If you are already staying on the eastern or southern side — Anda, Guindulman, the Candijay coast — you are on the same side of Bohol as the pier, which changes the shape of the day considerably.
- Camiguin is an island province in the Bohol Sea lying off the northern coast of mainland Mindanao, so this crossing leaves Central Visayas — it is a move between regions, not a hop within one.
Never assume it sails on your date
This is the part worth reading twice. The public sources do not agree on how often the Jagna–Balbagon boat runs: one Wikipedia article calls the Super Shuttle Roro service daily, another says the crossing operates in peak seasons, and third-party timetables published in 2026 list only certain days of the week. We are not going to print a frequency we cannot stand behind, and you should not plan on one you read second-hand either. Check the operator’s own booking channel for your date, and book the boat before you book anything that depends on it.
- Book the sailing first, then the Bohol nights around it, then the transfer — in that order, never the reverse.
- Sailings are few enough that a full boat or a cancelled one is a day-changing problem, not an inconvenience. Leave yourself somewhere to sleep on the Bohol side if it goes wrong.
- Weather closes crossings in this part of the Philippines. Do not hang a same-day international connection on the far side of it.
The alternatives, and what each one really costs you
If the Jagna boat does not work for your dates, Camiguin is still reachable — but both fallbacks are genuine detours rather than variations, and it is better to choose between them at the planning stage than at a ticket counter. Neither one leaves from Bohol.
- Via mainland Mindanao: ferries run frequently to Camiguin’s Benoni port from Balingoan in Misamis Oriental, reached by road from Cagayan de Oro — which is itself one of the destinations Jagna’s other sailings serve. More boats to choose from, but a longer chain with more to miss.
- By air, through Cebu: Camiguin Airport is served from Mactan–Cebu, and Camiguin is not on Bohol–Panglao International Airport’s scheduled route list. Flying therefore means crossing back to Cebu first, which is a different trip — our Bohol to Cebu guide covers that leg.
- Whichever you pick, the piece we quote stays the same shape: the Bohol-side road leg to whichever port or airport your ticket is actually for. Tell us the ticket, not the word "ferry".
What we quote: the drive to Jagna, planned backwards from the boat

Because the sailing is the fixed point and the drive across the island is the variable one, the pickup time has to be worked out backwards: start at the departure, subtract the operator’s check-in, subtract the drive, and what is left is the morning you actually have.
- Panglao, Alona, Tagbilaran and the countryside hotels are all cross-island pickups for Jagna and need a properly early start — tell us the sailing and we will set the time rather than guess it.
- Anda, Guindulman and the eastern coast stays are on the same side of the island as the pier, which usually makes for a far more civilised departure morning.
- Send the passenger count and the bag count. A ferry departure with suitcases is a vehicle decision, not a detail.
Coming the other way: landing at Jagna from Camiguin
The return direction is the one people plan least and regret most. You step off the boat at Jagna, on Bohol’s south coast, and everything most visitors want — Panglao, Alona, the airport, the countryside loop — is across the island from there. A pier with no vehicle waiting at the end of a sea crossing is a bad place to start negotiating, so arrange the Bohol side before you sail rather than after you land.
- We meet the boat at Jagna and drive you on to your Bohol hotel, or straight into the first leg of an onward itinerary.
- Arriving and flying out the same day is the plan to be most careful with: give us the flight number and the real departure time, and we will say honestly whether it works.
- If the landing day is also a sightseeing day, say so — a run that takes in the countryside stops on the way west is a normal thing for us to quote, but it changes the vehicle and the timing.

Is there a ferry from Bohol to Camiguin?
Yes. Super Shuttle Roro runs the crossing between Bohol’s port of Jagna and Camiguin’s port of Balbagon, and Camiguin is close enough to be visible from Jagna on a clear day. What it is not is the all-day corridor the Cebu ferries run: it is a single link with few sailings, so treat the boat as the fixed point of the trip and check the operator’s own booking channel before you commit to dates.

No. The crossing is a public booking you make yourself with the operator; what we quote is the Bohol-side vehicle and driver.
