Panglao to Oslob by boat
There is a direct boat between Panglao and Oslob, the south Cebu town people travel to for the whale sharks, and most planners never find it because it does not use a port. It is one banca a day in each direction, run beach to beach between Momo Beach on Panglao and Quartel Beach in Oslob, so the sailing is the whole plan rather than a detail of it. This guide covers where it actually leaves from, the timetable the operator publishes, who the operator says it does not suit, and how the road legs on the Bohol side fit around it.
It is a banca from a beach, not a ferry from a port
Apekop Travel has connected Panglao with Oslob on Cebu since 2017, with a wooden banca built the traditional Philippine way and licensed by the marine authorities. The operator is plain about what that means: it does not use official ports, and it says in as many words that it is not a ferry line. Passengers are taken out to the banca from the shore in a small transit boat at both ends, so expect to get your feet wet.
- Panglao side: Momo Beach - not Alona Beach, and not Tagbilaran City port. The operator directs you in from the Panglao Circumferential Road at the "Looc Elementary School / Momo Beach" entrance.
- Oslob side: Quartel Beach, which the operator places behind the church in Poblacion, the town proper.
- Nothing drives on or off - you and your bags go ashore by small boat - so the vehicle on each side of the water is a separate booking.
One sailing a day each way
The operator publishes one departure in each direction. Panglao to Oslob boards at Momo Beach at 5:00 AM for a 6:30 AM departure. Oslob to Panglao boards at Quartel Beach at 11:00 AM for an 11:30 AM departure, due into Momo Beach at 1:00 PM. Those are the times on the operator's own site in September 2026 - check them again before you fix the rest of the day, because there is no second boat to fall back on.
- Miss the boat and the next one in that direction is the following day.
- The operator says the boat is sometimes fully booked. It sells tickets online, through travel agencies in Panglao, Oslob and Moalboal, and at the beach itself - buy ahead rather than on the sand.
- It is open water in a banca, and the operator reserves the right to change, interrupt or cancel a trip when the weather or the sea demands it. Do not hang a same-day flight on it.
Who the operator says it does not suit
Apekop describes the crossing as an adventure trip, asks passengers to be in good physical and mental condition, and states that it may not suit parents with young children, elderly passengers, people with disabilities or pregnant women. We repeat that rather than soften it. If it rules your group out, the fast craft between Tagbilaran City port and Cebu City is the practical alternative, with an ordinary pier at both ends.
- Bags over 10 kg carry an extra charge at the boat, and the operator does not accept responsibility for luggage - pack valuables in something waterproof.
- Wet landings with small children, heavy cases or limited mobility are exactly the case the warning is about. Weigh it before you book, not at the water line.

When it beats the Tagbilaran fast craft, and when it does not
The crossing earns its place on one specific trip: between Panglao and south Cebu. Momo Beach is on Panglao itself and Oslob is a municipality on Cebu's south-east coast, so the boat skips both Tagbilaran and Cebu City. For any other pairing, the fast craft through Tagbilaran City port - the capital's pier, with sailings through the day - is the better plan.
- Staying on Panglao and heading for Oslob, or coming from Oslob or Moalboal to a Panglao resort: this is the direct move.
- Starting or ending anywhere else on Bohol - Tagbilaran, the countryside loop, Anda, the north - or heading for Cebu City or Mactan airport: use Tagbilaran City port.
- Oslob is where people go for the whale sharks, which are spotted at Tan-awan, away from the town centre. The Cebu side of that day is covered by our sister service cebu.travel.

That is a short morning in Oslob with no margin, because there is no later boat back that day. We quote the drop-off at Momo Beach for the early boat and the pickup there when you land.
Is the Panglao to Oslob boat suitable for children or older travellers?
The operator says it may not be. Apekop asks passengers to be in good physical and mental condition, and states that the trip may not suit parents with young children, elderly passengers, people with disabilities or pregnant women - you are landed on the beach by small boat and should expect wet feet. Do you book the boat ticket?
No. The ticket is a public booking you make yourself - online with the operator, through a travel agency in Panglao, Oslob or Moalboal, or at the beach, where the operator warns the boat is sometimes already full.
