Getafe port to Tagbilaran port

Landed at Getafe and sailing on from Tagbilaran? This is the one Bohol drive with a boat at each end. Getafe is the north-coast pier and Tagbilaran is the capital's, a full crossing of the island apart, and the ride between them has to fit between two sailings rather than between a sailing and a hotel check-in. We meet the boat at Getafe, size a vehicle for the group and the bags, and get you to the pier in time to board the next one.

How booking works

  1. 1Send both sailings in the quote form — the boat you arrive at Getafe on and the one you need to catch at Tagbilaran — with the group size, the bags and the operator for each.
  2. 2We reply by email with the vehicle plan and one fixed, all-in price, built backwards from the Tagbilaran check-in rather than forwards from the Getafe arrival.
  3. 3Your driver meets the boat at Getafe and takes you across the island to the Port of Tagbilaran with time to check in.

What to include in your request

  • This is the same road as our Getafe to Panglao run, stopping earlier. It goes inland and south-west from the pier through Buenavista, Inabanga, Clarin, Catigbi-an, San Isidro and Antequera, then down through Maribojoc and Cortes into Tagbilaran City — and ends at the Port of Tagbilaran instead of carrying on over the causeway bridges to Dauis and Panglao. If you have read that page you already know this drive; the difference is where it stops, not which way it goes.
  • It crosses Tubigon municipality on the way, a few kilometres inland of the Tubigon pier. That catches people out, so it is worth saying plainly: seeing Tubigon on a road sign does not mean you have been taken to the wrong port or sent the long way round. The inland highway simply passes through that municipality between Clarin and Catigbi-an.
  • The connection is the thing to plan, not the drive. With a boat at each end there is no front desk waiting on the far side — a sailing missed at Tagbilaran is a day gone rather than a late arrival. Give us both sailings and their operators rather than just the date, and we will tell you honestly in the quote whether the gap between them is comfortable, tight, or genuinely not enough.
  • If the two boats are far enough apart, the wait is usable rather than dead. Loboc, the Chocolate Hills and the countryside stops all sit between the two piers, so a long layover can be quoted as a day that happens to finish at the pier. Say what you would like to see and we will price the day rather than the transfer.
  • Say how many bags you have and whether anything is bulky — dive gear, golf clubs, a surfboard, a wheelchair. Everything travels with you across the island and then onto the next boat, so the vehicle has to be sized for the luggage as well as the seats.
  • Travelling the other way, Tagbilaran up to Getafe to sail north? Ask for it in the same enquiry. It is the same road in reverse, timed backwards from the Getafe sailing — the thinner of the two crossings and the one with less room for a shifted boat.

Questions we get asked about this transfer

The things people check before they send a quote request. If yours is not here, put it in the message box and we will answer it with your price.

Is there a boat between Getafe and Tagbilaran?

No, and it is a fair thing to ask, because both are ferry ports. They sit on opposite coasts of the same island and the connection between them is a road journey: inland and south-west through Buenavista, Inabanga, Clarin, Catigbi-an, San Isidro and Antequera, then down through Maribojoc and Cortes into Tagbilaran City. One vehicle, no second crossing in the middle.

How much time should I leave between the two sailings?

Send us both and we will say. We would rather tell you in the quote that a gap is too tight than have a driver racing a boat they cannot catch, and the honest answer depends on your operators, the time of day and where exactly you board. What we can say generally is that this is a cross-island drive rather than a hop, so a connection that looks fine on paper is worth checking before you buy the second ticket.

Why does the drive go through Tubigon if that is another port?

Because the inland highway runs through that municipality, several kilometres from the Tubigon pier itself. It is the normal road between the north coast and the capital, not a detour and not a change of plan. We mention it only because the sign surprises people mid-journey.

Can we see something in between if we have hours to spare?

Yes, and it is often the better use of a long layover. Loboc, the Chocolate Hills and the countryside stops lie between the two piers, so the day can be quoted as a tour that ends at the pier rather than as a transfer with waiting in it. Tell us the gap you have and what appeals, and we will build the day around the sailing you must catch.
